As the oldest hospital in Brooklyn, Long Island College Hospital has a
long-standing reputation in caring for patients and providing quality
services. Those who help us maintain our high quality patient care are
volunteers from the Brooklyn community. Located in the heart of Cobble
Hill, the hospital is easy to reach from all points in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Opportunities are available throughout the week, days and evenings as
well as weekends.
As a volunteer, you can help make sure patients keep their spirits up
in any one of the following ways:

The
Healing Center for Grieving Children |
| |
The
Healing Center for Grieving Children at Long Island College Hospital
in Brooklyn is searcing for volunteers. Caring adults are needed to
help with support groups for children who have experienced the death
of a parent or sibling. Volunteers are trained to encourage children
to express their pain and grief through talking and play activites
in a supportive, comforting environment. For more information on how

If
you are between the ages of 16-18, you can volunteer as an Independent
Junior after school. You must provide working papers which can be obtained
through your school's guidance office. Senior volunteers are 19 years
old or older can work throughout the hospital, including in the gift shop.

As with all our hospitals, interested individuals must also be medically
cleared by their primary care physicians to work directly with patients.
