GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGY

Beth Israel offers the latest diagnosis and treatment options for various gynecological cancers, including precancerous lesions of the vulva, vagina, cervix, and perianal area; cancers of the cervix, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes; and gestational trophoblastic disease. Our state-of-the-art equipment and multidisciplinary approach ensure that patients receive the highest quality of cancer care.

Diagnostic and treatment techniques utilized at Beth Israel include colposcopy, LEEP, cryosurgery, surgery, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, and radiation therapy. Our physicians specialize in laparoscopic surgery, using minimally invasive techniques to allow for a decrease in post-operative pain and a shorter recovery time.

In addition, Beth Israel is one of the few institutions in the country that offers intraoperative radiation therapy. This procedure delivers a single high dose of radiation during surgery to an area from which a tumor has just been removed.

Our gynecologic oncologists collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists, as well as with the gynecologic oncology divisions at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and Long Island College Hospital. Each member of this health care team is dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for our patients with gynecologic cancers. For this reason, psychological and social services, pain control experts, and family support are all available.
