Family planning
Young Women’s Health Center

Women of all ages will find a comprehensive health care program at Long Island College Hospital’s Ob/Gyn Ambulatory Care Center. With clinic hours available Monday through Friday, the Center serves all women, including those who are under-insured or uninsured. We take a team approach, giving our patients access to social workers, nutritionists, health educators, HIV counselors, and to our staff internist for general medical issues.

Among the services available are:

• Annual exams, including pelvic cancer screening tests.
• Family planning.
• Pre- and post-natal care.
• Labor and Delivery.
• Screening and treatment for sexually-transmitted diseases.
• Screening and treatment for other conditions, such as vaginal and urinary tract infections, menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain, and premenstrual syndrome.


Through its close collaboration with LICH’s obstetric and gynecologic specialists, the Center also is the gateway for any additional services that a patient may need. These include referrals for:
. Genetic counseling.
• High-risk pregnancy.
• Ultrasound.
• Pre cancer and Cancer diagnosis and treatment.
• Urinary incontinence.
• Infertility.

The Ambulatory Care Center is a provider of care through New York State’s Pre-natal Care Assistance Program (PCAP), which offers pre-natal care to uninsured women. Free pregnancy tests are provided, as well as an on-site interview for program eligibility. The program is comprehensive, offering assistance with transportation, nutrition and genetic counseling, childbirth and breastfeeding classes, home care, post-partum care, and family planning.

Family planning
Women will find that the Ambulatory Care Center offers access to all of the leading family planning methods and procedures. Our staff will help you to select the method that suits you best. Our services also include emergency contraception, pregnancy evaluation, and pregnancy options counseling.

Young Women’s Center
To address the health care needs of young women ages 12-20, LICH became the first Brooklyn hospital to open a Young Women’s Center. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we offer young women access to ob/gyn well care, as well as assistance with other medical and emotional issues.

The Center, which has office hours Monday afternoon, brings together Obstetricians, Gynecologists, Pediatricians, Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Social Workers, Nutritionists, and HIV Counselors, to address the special needs of young women.

Among the general services available are:
• Routine pelvic exams.
• Referral to a sub-specialist, when necessary.
• Family Planning counseling, where appropriate.
• Walk-in free pregnancy tests.
• Pregnancy evaluation and options counseling.
• Emergency contraception.
• Pre-natal care.
• Counseling for HIV and sexually-transmitted diseases.
• Nutrition counseling and medication management.
• Physical and emotional health education workshops, including peer group sessions.

The Center accepts all major insurance, including Medicaid. A sliding scale payment option is also available.
