hoarseness and other voice problems are often surprisingly hard to come by,
even in New York. Even when such a problem lasts for weeks or months, it may
be overlooked or dismissed as “laryngitis.” The Division of Voice Disorders/Laryngology at Beth Israel Medical Center is devoted to the accurate diagnosis and efficient treatment of voice problems. Voice difficulties can include:

Advanced techniques like videostroboscopy and laryngeal electromyography are available to identify subtle abnormalities.

The Division for Voice Disorders/Laryngology offers both medical and surgical treatments, including:
- vocal cord microsurgery (microlaryngoscopy)
- vocal cord injections
- laryngeal botulinum toxin (Botox®) injections
- medialization thyroplasty (laryngoplasty) for vocal cord paralysis and paresis
Most voice problems can be treated, and many do not require surgery. Our
