The Look Ahead Project The Look AHEAD
Project is a landmark, multiple-year clinical investigation of how
weight loss affects the rate of heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular
disease in men and women who are overweight and have type 2 diabetes.
The study receives funding from the National Institute of Diabetes and
Digestive and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
F. Xavier Pi-Sunyer, MD, Chief, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition,
and Director of the Obesity Research Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital
Center, is national co-principal investigator of this 16-site landmark
study, as well as the principal investigator for the St. Luke's-Roosevelt
site. This study is currently
