• In a report released in June 2007 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), in affiliation with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Beth Israel Medical Center has been named as one of only 38 hospitals nationwide with better than average mortality rates for congestive heart failure.

The report was produced using data from Medicare patients and was developed to improve overall congestive heart failure care and outcomes. The report rates, nationwide, each hospital's performance for specific aspects of congestive heart failure care, and is risk-adjusted to evaluate each hospital on an equal basis.

• The American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer, has granted Continuum Cancer Centers of New York a full 3-year accreditation, with commendation. Continuum is the first hospital system in New York State to earn network accreditation.
